In a new interview, Chris admits that while he’s moving forward in his life, he is not ignoring his past — he’s actually embracing it! Keep reading to see Chris’ refreshing new outlook on life.
“Everything for me is moving forward,” Chris Brown says in a radio interview on Big Boy’s Neighborhood on Los Angeles’ Power 106. He’s not holding onto grudges or letting small things bother him. But Chris also insists that a big part of moving forward is being able to embrace your past.
Chris Brown: Learning From His Past
“I’m about to be damn near 25,” Chris says, “I can’t live my life being ashamed of who I am.” Chris’ statement came as part of a conversation he and Big Boy were having about his dust-up with Frank Ocean. “I put it like this — it’s in the past,” Chris states.
He then goes on to acknowledge that his fight with Frank reminded people of his dark past, specifically the Rihanna incident before the Grammys in 2009. That acknowledgment alone seems like an enormous step for Chris, who admittedly used to dodge those types of conversations. “Every day is a learning step,” Chris says. “Me being so stand-back: ‘I don’t wanna talk, I don’t wanna talk about it.’ It’s not that anymore.”
Chris seems like he’s truly learning, and when he tells Big Boy, “I ain’t trying to go back down that road,” you can tell he really means it.
Chris Brown Shows He Means It With Symphonic Love Foundation
Actions do speak louder than words, but even Chris’ recent actions seem to reflect his more mature perspective. On Mar. 27, Chris gave back by raising awareness for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities as part of his charity Symphonic Love Foundation’s Global Best Buddies Day. Chris painted portraits all day, which will eventually be sold to raise funds for the charity.
This is the sort of personal growth we love to see from Chris Brown. Sometimes he makes it hard to stay on his side, but times like these, it’d be impossible not to support him.
