On April 9, Lindsay was in the hot seat when she appeared on ‘The Late Show,’ and no topic was off limits — even rehab!
The Late Show host David Letterman gave Lindsay Lohan the third degree during her interview on April 9. In David’s opening monologue, he joked that the only reason Lindsay was on the show was because “it’s part of her community service.”
Lindsay Lohan Opens Up About Rehab
David dived right into it when he demanded, “Aren’t you supposed to be in rehab now?” Lindsay replied, “Don’t you watch anything that goes on? What are you a tabloid now?”
“To be honest, I’m happiest when I’m working – the healthiest,” Lindsay explained. ”I think this is an opportunity for me to focus on what I love in life. And I don’t think it’s a bad thing. I think it’s a blessing.”
When David asked, ”Do you have addiction problems?” Lindsay avoided the question by joking, “Now you sound like Dr. Phil.”
Lindsay continued to try to avoid David’s demanding questions about rehab. But when he refused to let the topic go, Lindsay cut him off and said, ”We’re here for a movie. Let’s stay on the positive.”
Lindsay Lohan: I’ve Always Been A Target
Although they tried to change the subject, David made his way back around to questions about Lindsay’s troubles. Lindsay stole his notes off his desk and after reading some of the harsh questions and jokes, Lindsay confessed, “I’m a target. I’ve always been. I’ve put myself, in the past, in situations where…” she trailed off.
“I take full responsibility for it,” Lindsay said. “I was going through a phase. And I had a lot of family stuff going on, and things in life… And you grow up, you mature.”
“What else am I supposed to say when it’s a process of life and I’m not trying to deny anything,” Lindsay asked. “I’m looking forward to taking time for myself, and the next time I come on the show, that will be in my past.”
By the end, Lindsay was able to loosen up and even make a joke about herself. During David’s intense grilling Lindsay grabbed his coffee cup and joked, “Oh, I thought this was gonna be vodka!”
