As the top 12 took the stage to prove what they’ve got on May 13, Usher couldn’t handle how hot the performances got — it caused him to start shedding his clothes.

Apparently the air condition wasn’t working on The Voice on Monday night, but it was the top 12 performances that really brought the heat! All of the singers brought their A-game to show their voices  – and their dance moves!

Usher’s Team: Not Just Another Song & Dance

For Usher, we didn’t think anything could shine brighter than that diamond necklace — until his team took the stage. Usher invited his choreographer along, too!

Vedo kicked off the show, by taking on Michael Jackson‘s “Rock With You.” He proved he could both since and dance, while he took on some of MJ’s moves. All the coaches liked the performance, and while he focused a lot on his dancing, even Blake Shelton admitted that it take away from his singing.

Josiah Hawley once again proved he’s not just another pretty face, singing an intimate and acoustic version of “The Man Who Can’t Be Moved,” by The Script. Seems he took a page out of Adam Levine‘s book, rocking a plain white tee. All the coaches were impressed, especially with the different side of Josiah that was revealed.

Usher gave Michelle Chamuel “Call Your Girlfriend.” She admitted that she had stage fright, but it seems she’s conquering that! She rocked out on stage, causing Adam to say “I love you!” Usher told her that he adors her, and that he’s happy the world gets to experience her. We’re happy, too!

Blake Shelton’s Country Team Performs Flawlessly

Holly Tucker went with “Broken Wing” by Martina McBride. While it seemed she struggled a little with pitch, her coach gave her a standing ovation! Usher told her any one who has doubted her was an “idiot,” and Shakira imitated Blake, saying “Gosh Dang, girl!”

The Swon Brothers sang a classic country song, by George Jones: ”Who’s Gonna Fill Their Shoes.” It was about as country as country gets, and we really got to hear the harmony. Adam even said that “this country is country,” and really enjoyed the performance. Blake, who was close with George, was so impressed and gave them “kudos,” calling it the brothers’ break out moment.

Danielle Bradbury took on Carrie Underwood‘s “Wasted,” to show Blake how far she could go. And far she went! Shakira called her “a 16-year-old Margaret Thatcher.” Adam regurgitated what he said before: “you’re the one to beat.” Blake agreed, and called Danielle an “All American Girl.” (Another Carrie Underwood reference, Blake?)

Team Shakira Puts A Spin On A Classic Pop Song

Shakira shocked us when she chose Backstreet Boys‘ “I Want It That Way” for Garrett Gardner to sing! However, his rock version was actually pretty awesome! It wasn’t Adam’s favorite choice, while Blake thought it was a good choice by Shakira. His coach said his version was “cool as hell,” and I agree!

Meanwhile, Usher stole the limelight a little before Carson could tell the audience how to vote — he decided to take his shirt off!

Sasha Allen took on Heart‘s “Alone,” and Shakira really wanted to her to take a pop angle on the song. Whatever she did, it worked. By far, she blew everyone away. Her emotional and insanely strong performance got a standing ovation from her coach, and –once again, had Adam regretting that he let her go.

Kris Thomas sang the second Jackson song of the night – Jackson 5‘s ”I’ll Be There.” It was a shaky performance, but the judges were impressed, and Shakira gave him a standing ovation! Adam made a good point that MJ was so young and struggled to hit those high notes! Blake was impressed with the challenge Kris took, while Usher agreed that while the performance wasn’t perfect, he noted “no risk, no reward,” praising Kris for taking the chance.

Team Adam: Full Of Emotion & Power

Sarah Simmons performed “The Story” by Brandi Carlile, and it had to be one of the most beautiful performances yet. Blake thanked her and called her incredible, and Coach Adam was of course, blown away — you could tell just by the look on his face.

It was no surprise that Judith Hill wow’d us all with a gorgeous version “You’ve Got A Friend.” Performing a slow and beautiful song at the piano, it was very Alicia Keys-esqe. All the judges agreed that she is consistently amazing, and Adam said that she was “perhaps the most talented human being in this competition.”

Amber Carrington was the last to take the stage on Monday night. Choosing “I’m Gonna Love You Through It,” by Martina McBride, Amber really related the song to her own life and the passing of her mother, hoping that she can inspire others. Dedicating the song to her mother, it was of course extremely heartfelt and powerful. Blake told her she did country music and Nashville proud. Usher said she “defied the laws of gravity,” and Adam said he was continually impressed and astonished by Amber each week.
