Will the Duchess be alone in the delivery room? Time will only tell when Kate will go into labor and how close Royal Air Force pilot Prince William will be, but she’s reportedly nervous about it!

While Kate Middleton, 31, is taking a break from public appearances and taking it easy in preparation for the arrival of her and Prince William‘s baby, William is busy doing work for the RAF as a Search and Rescue pilot in North Wales. But with her due date fast approaching, Kate is getting worried that William won’t be there for the birth!

Kate Middleton Feeling ‘Self-Conscious’ About Birth

It has been reported that every effort will be made to get William, 31, to the birth if he is away when Kate goes into labor, but Kate isn’t 100 percent confident in his ability to get there in the case of an early birth.

“Kate’s worried he might not be around,” a source told Now Magazine. “She’s feeling self-conscious because it’s uncharted territory for both of them.”

While she’s concerned he won’t be there, the source also said that Kate knows that William will “do everything in his power not to let her down.”

William is reportedly spending as much time as he can at the couple’s Kensington Palace home, Nottingham Cottage, in London with Kate during her pre-birth downtime, but unfortunately the Prince has no control over when he will be called away by the RAF.

Kate Middleton Announces Where She Will Give Birth

Kate had announced in mid-June that she would give an emergency birth at St. Mary’s Hospital in London in the case of her going into labor early, as St. Mary’s is closer to where the couple is staying in London while William still has the possibility of being called away.

Despite the emergency plans, Today reported on June 19 that palace officials revealed St. Mary’s Hospital to be the definite place of birth for the royal baby — in the same wing that Princess Diana gave birth to William! What a family tradition!

William has full intent on being there for Kate during the entirety of the birth. We hope the timing works out so he can be the doting husband we all know he is!

Do YOU think it is important for William to be at the birth of the royal baby, HollyMoms?
