Kristen is speaking out for the first time since James’ tragic death. Read on to find out what the actress has to say about her former co-star.
Kristen Stewart was out of town when news hit that her friend and Welcome to the Rileys co-star James Gandolfini, 51, had died of a massive heart attack while vacationing with his young son in Italy on June 19.
Kristen tells Entertainment Weekly, “When I heard of James' passing, I was in New Orleans, where we met shooting, and every memory flooded back and gutted me. I'll hold that time near to me forever. He was immeasurably great. My heart goes out to his beloved family."
Kristen & James Co-Star In Welcome To The Rileys’
After filming Welcome to the Rileys, Kristen described her co-star in a 2009 USA Today profile:
“Jim was the sh*t,” Kristen said with a giggle. “He's quiet. We got along well because we let it happen the way it's supposed to. It was very organic, very cool.”
In 2012, James expressed his adoration for Kristen when he wrote a review about her performance in On The Road for a special feature in Variety:
“Kristen Stewart is one of the mad ones. But mad in a beautiful way. And she is determined to make people mad. To show them she is more than Bella in Twilight. To show them she does burn, and smolder, and wants more out of her career and life. And smolder she does."
Our prayers and thoughts go out to James’ family and friends, and Kristen for her loss.
