Cory’s father, Joe Monteith, who is divorced from Cory’s mom, told TMZ he was not invited to the last-minute viewing. He said he was “totally devastated” when he heard the news that Cory’s body had been cremated before he could say goodbye.
He told the gossip site, “I always loved both my sons and am going to miss Cory very very much. I’m saddened at the fact that I couldn’t have been there to see my son before he was cremated.”

Cory Monteith Reunited With His Father Before His Untimely Death
Cory’s father, Joe, flew in from St John’s, New Brunswick when he heard the news of Cory’s death. In 2009, Cory reunited with Joe for the first time in 17 years.
In an interview in 2011, Cory said of his formerly estranged father: “We'd spoken maybe three or four times [during that period] and he reached out to me on Facebook. I couldn't shut the door, so I got on a plane. He greeted me at the airport, and [Joe and stepmother Yvette] were so happy, they were almost crying. It was a good time.”
It’s so sad that Joe didn’t have a chance to say goodbye to Cory.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Cory’s friends and family during this sad time.
