One day after Talia tragically died of cancer, her family went on the ‘Today Show’ to pay tribute to the 13-year-old CoverGirl and YouTube beauty guru.
After Talia Joy Castellano passed away from cancer on July 16 at a very young age, her family made an appearance on the Today Show to honor the teen who inspired millions through her YouTube video tutorials. Read on to find out more details.
Talia Joy Castellano’s Family On The ‘Today’ Show
Talia, 13, was surrounded by friends and family at the time of her early and tragic death. She had been struggling with a form of nerve cancer called neuroblastoma for more than seven years before she passed away on the morning of July 16.
On July 17, Talia’s mother, Desiree Castellano, and sister, Mattia Castellano, went on the Today Show to pay tribute to Talia, according to People magazine.
“She was funny, caring, inspirational, talented – very talented,” Desiree said of Talia on the morning show.
Mattia added, ”She loved every single one of her fans, and she always wanted to give back to them.”
Talia continued to make YouTube videos for her fans throughout her battle with cancer, and inspired her adoring fans through her Instagram and Twitter accounts.
“She said she wanted to make her mark,” Talia’s father, Marc Winthrop, told Today, “and she did that.”
Talia Joy Castellano’s Untimely Death
After Talia Castellano passed away on the morning of July 16, her family took to social media to break the sad news to the world. They posted a message to her Facebook page, Angels for Talia:
“It is with a heavy heart that we share with all of you that Talia has earned her wings at 11:22am. Please lift her beautiful soul, her beautiful light to heaven and please send your love and prayers to her family during this most difficult time. God speed little one, may you be free from pain and suffering, may your soul feel the light and love that you brought to so many of us on this Earth during the short time you were her with us. We will miss you more than you will ever know baby girl."
Talia will also be missed by her friend Ellen DeGeneres, who helped propel Talia to fame when she invited her appear on her show and made the young makeup artist an honorary CoverGirl. Ellen bid goodbye to Talia on July 16 in a touching post on her show’s site, saying:
“It’s a sad day at The Ellen Degeneres Show. This morning, we lost a friend. Talia Joy Castellano was an inspiring young makeup artist with a lot of talent and a lot of heart. She inspired everyone at the show, and many, many more. Our hearts are with her family. We love you, Talia.”
Ellen DeGeneres also took to Twitter to express her grief at such a terrible loss, tweeting, “This year I met a very special girl, and today we lost her. Sending my heart to Talia’s family. I’m so sad.”
