A Georgia judge sentenced Andrea to five years in prison on August 19 after she was found guilty of lying under oath and hindering the investigation into the murder of her husband, Rusty Sneiderman. Read on for more details.

A jury found Andrea Sneiderman guilty of nine out of 13 felony counts, including perjury and making false statements to police in connection with the murder of her husband, Rusty Sneiderman, who was shot and killed in a daycare parking lot in November 2010 after dropping off his son there.

Prosecutors accused Andrea, 37, of Decatur, Ga., of having an affair with her former supervisor at GE Energy, Hemy Neuman, who was found guilty but mentally ill in Rusty’s murder in March 2012. At the time, Andrea was also charged with arranging her husband’s death, but those charges were dropped.

During Hemy’s trial, she denied having any romantic involvement with him, and her testimony played a huge part in her conviction on August 19.

"Mrs. Sneiderman is on her way to jail as I believed she should be in the first place," DeKalb County District Attorney Robert James said after the trial. “Two families have been torn apart. This is a very sad situation.”

In closing arguments on August 15, Andrea’s attorney, Tom Clegg, argued the case against his client was circumstantial and that she too was a “victim” of Hemy’s actions.

“Part of that woman’s heart, part of that woman’s soul was ripped apart and she will never get that back,” he said. “The state of Georgia is doing all it can to take away the rest of her heart, the rest of her soul.”

He said Andrea, the mother of two young children, cooperated with police in her husband’s murder investigation and that the detectives were to blame for not finding the killer sooner.

“They blew it, folks,” Tom said. “They blew it totally. They blew it completely.”

However, the D.A. called Andrea a liar and said the case simply amounted to nothing more than a “forbidden romance that ends in murder.”

“The truth is that Andrea Sneiderman is guilty of all 13 counts in this indictment because she, ladies and gentlemen, is a liar,” Robert said. “In America, you cannot lie to police, and you cannot lie to the jury.”
