After Lucas, 19, addressed his sexuality for the first time in his latest vlog, fans took to Twitter to voice their support for the Nickelodeon star.
Lucas Cruikshank, who shot to YouTube stardom via his hyperactive “Fred” persona, confirmed that he’s gay in his latest video on August 20. ”My family and friends have known for, like, three years,” he says in the video. “I just haven’t felt the need to announce it on the internet.”

Lucas even got a very special private Twitter message from singer and gay icon Cher, who told Lucas, “proud of you!” How sweet! Lucas was so excited about the message that he posted a picture of it to Twitter with the caption “What!?!?”
Lucas tweeted in response to all of his less famous fans, “I honestly love you all so much. Your support is everything and I’m glad you liked the video ☺”
Lucas must feel so safe and loved. We’re so glad he’s fans are supporting him!
Lucas Cruikshank Comes Out As Gay
In the video posted on August 20, Lucas revealed he’s gay, suggesting that it shouldn’t come as such a shock.
“When you first met me, did you know I was gay?” he asks his friend Jennifer Veal, to which she responds “yeah” without even a hint of hesitation.
Aside from his popularity on YouTube, Lucas also starred on the short-lived Nickelodeon sitcom Marvin Martian from 2012 to 2013. He reportedly left Nickelodeon in June 2013.
