Haters be damned! Ben has the acting chops, charisma and brooding good looks to successfully fill Christian Bale’s shoes. Keep reading to find out why the naysayers should refrain from being concerned with the casting choice!
Ben Affleck is set to star as Batman in the Man of Steel sequel, Warner Bros. announced Aug. 22. While many celebs and fans took to Twitter to joke about the controversial casting choice — some suggested roles for Matt Damon and Jennifer Lopez — I think it’s a brilliant idea.
Ben Affleck — Batman Casting Is Brilliant Move For Warner Bros.
Following the announcement that Ben, 41, will play the caped crusader in the Superman sequel, celebs and critics took to Twitter to voice their concerns.
“Oh please, why not just cast J Lo as Catwoman, too, and REALLY torpedo the whole thing,” Star Ledger critic Stephen Whitty said.
“Really looking forward to seeing Affleck bring the depth and gravitas to Batman that he brought to Daredevil and Gigli.” Star Trek star Wil Wheaton added.
It’s clear that Batman fans are very passionate, but I think they need to refrain from making any judgements until they see the final product. I have complete faith in director Zack Snyder. Not only did he successfully revive the Superman franchise, Man of Steel has grossed over $649 million worldwide, but he presents a good case for why Ben is the perfect choice to play Batman.

According to HollywoodLife.com’s sister site Deadline, director Zack Snyder said:
Ben provides an interesting counter-balance to Henry's Superman. He has the acting chops to create a layered portrayal of a man who is older and wiser than Clark Kent and bears the scars of a seasoned crime fighter, but retain the charm that the world sees in billionaire Bruce Wayne. I can't wait to work with him.
I’m choosing to trust Zack Snyder, and I personally can’t wait to see Ben and Henry go head-to-head onscreen together! And let’s be real — Ben’s easy on the eyes.
