The season four premiere of ‘The Voice’ Monday, Mar. 25 was full of competition, and not just between the contestants! All four judges pulled any card possible to get the singers they wanted on their team… especially the last contestant of the night.
Season four of The Voice brought out tons of talented stars on Monday night, and judges Adam Levine, Shakira, Blake Shelton and Usher went head to head to land the best team.
‘The Voice’ Coaches: The Most Talented Judges On TV?
The night started with a performance from all four judges singing a perfectly fitting rendition of The Beatles‘ “Come Together.”
While all the judges harmonized together, they also all took on an instrument – Adam rocked out on the drums; Usher, popped collar and all, jammed on the guitar; Blake also strummed a guitar; and Shakira danced sexy on the microphone before beginning to play a harmonica.
Usher Pulls The Justin Bieber Card
Not to my surprise at all, when Usher was trying to convince singers to join his team, he pulled out his best trick – he discovered the Biebs! While that is pretty awesome to have on your resume, it actually didn’t do the trick for 16-year-old Danielle Bradbery.
Danielle, who sang Taylor Swift‘s “Mean,” took the stage for her first ever performance in front of an audience, and still managed to turn the chairs of all three men!
“He’s actually in the back,” Usher told Danielle about Justin Bieber, after letting her know he could also probably get her in to his concerts and award shows. However, he then referred to Nashville as a state… rather than the city in Tennessee.
So, it seems that even at 16, the adorable girl had to follow her heart … and it didn’t go to Justin. “My heart goes out to Blake!” she decided.
Aww!
The Morgan Twins Shock The Judges
The night wasn’t all about the men though, when two gorgeous women took the stage.
The Voice saw yet another first when The Morgan Twins took the stage. The stunning 27-year-old sisters sang Alicia Keys‘ “Fallen,” causing all four judges to turn around for the first time of the season.
Seeing the surprise on the judges’ faces one by one when seeing the twins was priceless, and almost as hilarious as Blake’s reaction, comparing them to “double mint twins” and saying they were “a dream come true for most men.”
However, after some bickering and back and forth, the girls – to my surprise – chose to go with Blake!
Judith Hill – Best Singer Of The Night Wows The Judges
Just when I thought the night couldn’t get any better, Judith Hill took the stage. The contestant was called to be a background singer on Michael Jackson‘s This Is It tour, and rehearsed with the King of Pop the last two months of his life, and after his passing, was asked to sing at his service.
She performed an amazing rendition of Christina Aguilera‘s song “What A Girl Wants,” causing Usher and Adam to turn around almost immediately, quickly followed by Shakira and Blake. Before the song ended, Adam was not only standing, but standing on top of his chair.
“You are the first person that’s ever come on this show an done a Christina song as well as Christina Aguilera,” Adam said, which wrapped up the performance perfectly. ”As far as I’m concerned, I’m running for President right now,” Adam said to explain how much he wanted Judith on his team.
However, Usher was ready with a comeback: “But I’m looking for the first lady, because he woulda never made it without her.”
Unfortunately, as clever as Usher was, Judith went with … Team Adam, becoming his first team member!
Overall, the night was filled with tons of amazing singers, leaving Blake leading the pack with three team members, followed by both Usher and Shakira with two members, and Adam with the one and only, Judith.
