Boston Marathon bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev, 26, who died on April 19 in a violent shootout with police, leaves behind a wife and precious 3-year-old daughter named Zahara, according to a new report. The young father was wanted with his brother Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, 19, for the horrific April 15 explosions that killed three and injured 176 people.
Tamerlan Tsarnev’s Family: Leaves Behind Wife & Daughter
Before engaging in the deadly April 15 terrorist attack, Tamerlan married a 24-year-old college graduate, who had converted to Islam. The slain suspect was frequently seen at the young woman’s house in Rhode Island, according to her neighbor, and the source tells the Daily Mail that she converted to Islam for her husband. The source says:
I knew she was married and she had converted to Islam. She went away to college about three or four years ago, and I saw her a year later and she was dressed in the Islamic style. Her hair was covered and she was wearing very baggy, flowy clothing.
The source also says the couple had moved to Massachusetts, but would come up to Rhode Island most weekends — until the wife moved back home with her family, and Tamerlan wasn’t to be seen. The source adds:
She moved back home and was living at home with the baby. I never saw him again, I thought maybe he's gone away or he's busy with school.
Tamerlan & Dzhokhar Tsarnaev: Suspects Behind Boston Bombing
On April 18, the two brothers were identified by authorities as the suspects behind the deadly Boston Marathon bombing, and that night they embarked on a violent night of crime. Dzhokhar robbed a 7-Eleven in Cambridge, Mass around 10:30 p.m., and soon after shot and killed an MIT police officer responding to a suspicious incident.
Police reportedly then chased the two suspects in a black Mercedes to Watertown, a quiet residential neighborhood outside of Boston. Two residents of Watertown said that they heard what sounded like firecrackers going off, and when they looked out their window they saw the two men huddled behind their Mercedes, engaging in a shootout with the police.
Tamerlan was killed during the standoff, and CNN reports that his brother Dzhokhar ran him over and drove away. CNN is reporting that when Tamerlan was brought to a hospital in critical condition from gunshot wounds, it was discovered that he had explosives strapped to his body. He was later pronounced dead.
So tragic for everyone involved. Our thoughts are with their families during this difficult time.
