The ramped up manhunt in Boston has reportedly zeroed in on Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, the remaining at large suspect from the Boston Marathon bombings. Keep reading for more details.
Boston police have initiated a city-wide manhunt for Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, the Chechen brother who perpetrated the Boston Marathon bombings and escaped a violent shootout that killed his brother/accomplice Tamerlan on April 19. The police may have located and zeroed in on the fleeing Boston Marathon bomber, according to NBC News.
Boston Police Zeroing In On Dzhokhar Tsarnaev?
A large fleet of police vehicles zoomed quickly to a location in Watertown, Mass., the small town outside of Boston where Dzhokhar and Tamerlan engaged in a shootout with police. It is possible that they were rushing to a site where Dzhokhar is believed to be hiding. However, police were not 100% sure that they had located their suspect.
As Boston police surrounded the house in question, they treaded carefully in case the house was booby-trapped with bombs or any other dangerous weapons. Guns were drawn by policemen and snipers stood ready on roofs of adjacent buildings.
Boston Police Search For Dzhokhar Tsarnaev
The manhunt for Dzhokhar ramped up on April 19 when the Tsarnaev brothers robbed a Cambridge, Mass. 7/11 the night earlier, setting off a violent chain of events. The two suspects went on to kill an MIT campus policeman who was responding to a suspicious incident. Boston police then chased the suspects in a black Mercedes to Watertown, where the two parties engaged in a violent shootout. Tamerlan was killed, but Dzhokhar managed to flee the scene.
The city of Boston has been in lockdown ever since. Public transportation, Amtrak trains, and airplanes have all been suspended; schools and offices are closed, and police are asking residents to remain inside their homes no matter what.
