Boston police have reportedly located and surrounded Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, and police activity has now begun to amplify. Officers are now drawing their weapons and frantically telling reporters to stay down.
After surrounding a location in Watertown, Mass. where they believed Dzhokhar Tsarnaev to be hiding, Boston police are now ramping up activity and reportedly drawing their weapons.
Boston Police Draw Weapons In Watertown
The Boston police continued to push the media back to a safe distance in Watertown, where earlier in the day they gunned down Dzhokhar’s brother/accomplice, Tamerlan. Possibly anticipating some sort of confrontation to occur in the near futur, the police were seen drawing their weapons and taking every other precaution, according to CNN.
Though the police reportedly do believe that they have Dzhokhar surrounded, they are still concerned that he could be extremely dangerous. Considering his and his brother’s penchant for explosives — Tamerlan was found to be strapped with an explosive device after being taken to a hospital — the police are treading carefully, under the assumption that Dzhokhar is stocked with explosives and possibly other weapons.
There also a very real fear that Dzhokhar may be prepared to die, and therefore willing to go out in a blaze of glory, taking down as many police officers as her can. That is a situation that the police are trying to prevent.
Manhunt For Bombing Suspect: Boston Locked Down
Boston has been in lockdown — transportation has been suspended, schools and offices are closed, and officials have asked all residents to remain inside their homes — since police engaged in a violent shootout with the two Boston bombing suspects/brothers. In the shootout, Tamerlan was gunned down and Dzhokhar was able to escape.
Police continue to work hard and risk their lives to resolve this situation, and we’ll keep you updated as new information comes in.
