The Boston Bombings’ suspect is awake, and finally responding to questions from the authority. However, after a gun shot to the throat, he is unable to talk, forcing him to write down any answers he can.
After suffering serious injuries, Dzhokhar Tsarnarv may never be able to speak again. But that doesn’t mean authorities are giving up on getting some answers from the suspect who is responsible for the terrorist bombing in Boston on April 15.
Dzhokhar Tsarnaev Awake, Writing Answers For Authorities
Dzhokhar, 19, is being treated at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center — the same hospital his brother Tamerlan had died in after the shootout on Friday, April 19.
Dzhokhar was shot through his mouth and throat, CBS’ 60 Minutes reports. Police are not sure if the gun shot was self-inflicted or from a round fired by police.
Authorities now fear that he may not be able to verbally answer any questions — now or in the future.
“We don't know if we'll ever be able to question the individual,” Mayor Thomas M. Menino said of the suspect.
However, he is responding sporadically, according to ABC News. He is being questioned about the possibility of additional unexploded bombs and about other cell members. While officials have said he’s not in a condition for questioning, he has began writing down some answers to questions.
Dzhokhar Tsarnarv’s Serious Condition
After his arrest on Friday, April 12, he was taken directly to the hospital to be treated.
“He had lost a lot of blood,” police spokesman David Procopio said to the Boston Herald. ”He was so weak that we were able to just go in and scoop him up.”
Dzhokhar will be charged within the next few days, as the details continue to unravel.
