‘The Vampire Diaries’ star is back with another addictive jam. Give it a listen, and prepare to feel the ‘power.’
We’re, admittedly, pretty big suckers for Kat Graham‘s music. We dressed in drag to “Sassy,” embraced our inner divas to “I Want It All” and shook our asses all day long to “Put Your Graffiti On Me.” But her latest single “Power” finds the Vampire Diaries songstress heading in a slightly different direction. And you know what? We’re hooked, once again.
“Power” is more of a ballad than Kat’s previous jams, and we love how vulnerable she sounds on the just-released track. As much as we’d all like to think we’re powerful on our own, sometimes it’s OK to admit to getting your ‘power’ from someone else.
What ‘Power’ Means To Kat
Kat released a statement about her new single, explaining the personal meaning behind the song:
The meaning behind ‘Power’ for me was to express that true power comes from within. Someone can come into your life and unlock the door to your potential. For me, that was love, but it can be anything to anyone. From ‘Graffiti,’ to ‘Wanna Say,’ to this – I feel like I’ve found a space that makes sense for where I’m at as an artist, that fits into who I am as a whole. This is also a gift to my fans and a way that I can thank them through artistic expression. It’s a song that starts off with the feeling like you’re just one of many, and someone helping you to see that in the end, there’s only you.
(We could definitely see Bonnie singing this to Jeremy. You know, if she wasn’t dead.)
