Bethany Hamilton is a role model to girls everywhere! After her harrowing surfing accident in 2003, that tragically cost her her left arm, the surfer has faced challenges and obstacles with grace and dignity. In an EXCLUSIVE interview with HollywoodLife.com, she tells us all about her life now, including her upcoming wedding!
It came as no surprise to us that Bethany Hamilton was partnering up with Tampax for their “Awesomely Active Girl” challenge and the launch of their newest product Tampax Pearl Active. After all, the surfer is incredibly active and dedicated to her sport, as well as being a role model for girls everywhere. Bethany dished to us EXCLUSIVELY about what partnering with Tampax means to her, her best beach beauty tips, and all about her upcoming wedding plans!
Bethany Hamilton’s Beauty Products & Tips — Her Beach Must-Haves
Bethany is a total beach babe — she’s tall, blonde, and tan — so, of course, we had to pick her brain about her beauty routine. Since Bethany obviously spends so much time on the beach, she had some great beach beauty tips. First and foremost: sunscreen! “Sunscreen is my go-to beauty product. I use Eco logical,” said Bethany. She also added that you can’t just rely on sunscreen, though: “I pretty much live in a hat.”
After spending so much time in salt water, Bethany has to pay special attention to her hair. She recommends to always immediately wash the salt water out of your hair. She follows up with Aveda Damage Remedy Reconstructing Shampoo which strengthens damaged hair and Joico K-pak Reconstruct Conditioner. For her leave-in products, Bethany loves It’s A 10 Miracle Leave-In Conditioner – and coconut oil! Bethany says that the all-natural oil “seriously makes my hair like, so good. I'll just sleep in it one night and shampoo it out the next day and my hair feels amazing!”
Bethany Spills On Her Upcoming Wedding
Bethany recently became engaged to her boyfriend of one year, Adam Dirks. Bethany is already planning her upcoming nuptials, but contrary to popular belief, she won’t be getting married on the beach! The surfer says: “I am getting married in Hawaii but we're actually getting married not near the beach.” For her special day, Bethany says she wants a change of pace: “We spend so much time at the beach, so we're like ‘Oh, let's do something different!’”
On Being A Role Model And Tampax Pearl Active
Bethany loves her partnership with Tampax because it allows her to send a positive message to girls all over the country. “I look around and there are so many different people that could be considered role models — and I'm like, ‘I don't know if I would want my daughter looking up to you when I'm a mom,’” says Bethany. So she strives to live a “pure and positive” life with Tampax. It allows her to “get the word out there to all the young girls.”
