It’s official! Both JLo and Harry Connick Jr. have been confirmed as judges for season 13 of ‘American Idol,’ Fox has now confirmed.
The rumors are true! Both Jennifer Lopez and Harry Connick Jr. are now officially joining Keith Urban at the American Idol judges table for season 13, and we couldn’t be more excited.
‘American Idol’: Jennifer Lopez Returns As Judge
We told you that JLo was in the talks to rejoin the show she left after season 11, and now it’s a definite go!
“#IDOL2014TheRemix …see ya soon,” she tweeted on Sept. 3, confirming that yes — the rumors are true!
"I couldn't be prouder to be a part of the AMERICAN IDOL XIII family,” host Ryan Seacrest said in a press release. ”Our new producers, judging panel and mentor are all fired up for this season. I've already witnessed some amazingly talented contestants from around the country during our early auditions, cementing my belief that a new superstar is well within our sights. I think this season of IDOL is gonna be a blast. New team, new energy and a whole new field of artists to be discovered and given a chance!"
Even Randy Jackson can’t wait to get back on the show — although, he is not a judge, but as an in-house mentor.
“Surprise, surprise!” Randy said. “I am so happy to be back as part of this amazing show that started it all. Season 1-3 is the place to be. The original talent show is back with a vengeance and ready to discover the best talent in America.”
Harry Connick Jr. Moves From Mentor To Judge
“I have always been a huge fan of American Idol and really enjoyed my time as a mentor on the show,” new judge Harry Connick Jr. added. “And I am honored that they've asked me to be a judge this season. As an entertainer, I am truly excited to bring my perspective to American Idol, and to help emerging performers find their way.”
We knew Harry was on board! As a mentor last season, contestants couldn’t get enough of him. Candice Glover told HollywoodLife.com exclusively that his honesty alone makes him qualified.
“He's the most honest person I have ever met in my whole life,” Candice said. ”He has such a dry sense of humor; you never know when he's kidding or being serious. He's really honest, so I think he should be a judge next year.”
Season 13 of American Idol returns in January. Are you excited about the new — and old judges?
