Nobody is more happy about the recent casting choice of Anastasia Steele than Melanie Griffith! The female starring role will be played by her daughter, Dakota Johnson.
With a barrage of criticism from fans and celebrities about the casting of the hugely-anticipated Fifty Shades of Grey movie, we know at least one star who is thrilled — and one proud mama — about Dakota Johnson playing sweet-turned-sex-goddess Anastasia Steele.

“My beautiful child Dakota has been chosen to play Anna Steele in 50 Shades!!! Look out world! Here she comes!!! #proudmama” Melanie Griffith tweeted. So sweet and supportive! With mom’s encouragement, Dakota is sure to be excited for the role.
Dakota Johnson Cast As Anastasia Steele
Some moms might be apprehensive about their daughters taking on such sexual roles, but not when you’re a third generation actress like Dakota. Melanie has acted in risky and challenging film roles before, and so has her mother, Hollywood legend and Alfred Hitchcock muse Tippi Hedren. Her father is also Miami Vice star Don Johnson, and stepdad is actor Antonio Banderas. No word yet on what grandma Tippi and the rest of the family says, but we’re sure the whole star-studded family will support Dakota at the premiere!
This is the big break that will make Dakota a bona-fide star, after acting on the show Ben and Kate and in films including 21 Jump Street, The Five-Year Engagement and The Social Network.
