Free D&G? The designing duo has been sentenced to one year and eight months in prison!
I hope orange is their color! It seems the iconic fashion brand is facing serious legal trouble, and by trouble we mean they might be headed straight to the slammer. Domenico Dolce, 54, and Stefano Gabbana, 50, have been sentenced to prison after being found guilty of tax evasion — and we have all the details.
Dolce And Gabbana Jail?
During a June 19 trial, the Italian designers were found guilty of tax evasion. A jury met for three hours to reach a verdict in the case. However, this is just the first of the three-part deliberation that will decide the fashion duo’s fate.
According to an article on Vogue UK,”Judge Antonella Brambilla ruled in the case on one of two counts. They were cleared of the second count – involving the valuation of their company and the tax rate paid – at an earlier date.”
It’s rumored that the two will appeal the court’s decision, however, nothing has been confirmed. Problems began for the fashion house back in 2004 when Domenico and Stefano were found guilty of “evading Italy’s high taxes with the Luxembourg-based holding company Gado Srl,” Vogue UK reports. While they both deny these charges, it’s still unknown whether or not the courts will believe it.
Rough stuff! Well, we wish the duo the best with their legal trouble and hope they can get it all sorted out.
