Kate has ignored many royal customs during her marriage and pregnancy, but she and William will reportedly stick to tradition when they announce the birth of their baby.

Duchess Kate Middleton, 31, is just under a month away from her due date, and plans are slowly coming together for the big day. She and husband Prince William, 30, have decided how they are going to announce the birth of the already famous royal baby — and we love the tradition behind it!

Kate & William Make Birth Announcement Plans

The royal baby — whose gender is still a mystery — is going to have quite an announcement upon its birth. Once he or she has arrived, a framed announcement of the birth will be displayed just behind the gates of Buckingham Palace, a St. James Palace aide told Us Weekly.

The frame will be displayed on a wood and gold easel — the same one that was used to announce William’s birth in 1982. Talk about a cute family tradition!

As if that wasn’t fancy enough, the official document will first be printed and signed to be given to the staff at St. Mary’s Hospital — the anticipated birthing place — and then sent to the palace via police escort! A palace aide told Us Weekly:

We want there to be a degree of theatre about the birth announcement. This is the birth of the third in line to the throne so it is very important. It is an extremely important occasion.

The Royal Baby: What Will Be On The Birth Announcement

Although the royal couple will pull a Kimye and wait to reveal their baby’s name a bit after he or she has arrived, the baby’s gender, weight and time of birth will be included on the document. It sounds like we’ll be more informed about the royal baby than we have been with baby Kimye!

Kate plans on delivering her newborn naturally, but has said that she would be open to a C-section if that’s what doctors suggest. The Royal Household official Surgeon-gynecologist Dr. Alan Farthing and the Queen’s Surgeon-Gynecologist Dr. Marcus Setchell are prepared to deliver the baby.
