During their coverage of the George Zimmerman trial, MSNBC showed a photo of Travyon taken after he had been shot and killed on Feb. 26, 2012. Do you think it was wrong to show this photo to the unknowing viewers at home?
People are intently awaiting the outcome of the George Zimmerman, 30, trial. Individuals all over the world have been watching coverage on various cable networks for the past three weeks, in hopes to get a better grasp of what really happened the night George shot 17-year-old Trayvon Martin. But on July 12, viewers watching the MSNBC got a little more than they bargained for when a photo of Travyon’s lifeless body was shown.
Trayvon Martin — Graphic Photo Shown Of His Death
As George’s defense team tells the jury not to race to make a statement, and the prosecution tries to point out the inconsistencies in George’s story, a photo was shown of Trayvon taken by police. Instead of the photo normally shown of Trayvon with a yellow sheet over him, this one shows Trayvon with his mouth and eyes wide open.
George Zimmerman Charged With Second-Degree Murder
Trayvon was walking through Martin’s neighbor on the night of Feb. 26, wearing a black hoodie and carrying a bag of skittles. George, a self-appointed neighborhood watch volunteer, claims that Travyon began beating him up and threatened his life. That’s when George shot an unarmed Trayvon in the heart, resulting in his tragic death.
The chief prosecutor, Bernie de la Rionda, spoke to the jury and said that George was wrong and purposefully killed Trayvon.
“He went over the line," Mr. de la Rionda told the jury. "He assumed things that weren't true and, instead of waiting for the police to come and do their job, he did not. He, the defendant, wanted to make sure that Trayvon Martin didn't get out of the neighborhood."
Do you think it was wrong of MSNBC to show the graphic photo of Trayvon?
