Summer may still have some life left in it yet, but in just a few short weeks we’ll be throwing on our riding boots and ordering hot lattes once again. But while we have no trouble switching up our wardrobes, it can be particularly hard to get back in the swing of autumn beauty. Luckily, a makeup and beauty mega-mogul stepped in to help. Keep reading for all the details.

Summer beauty is the definition of breezy. Think hippe-chick, beach goddess, and totally laid back. Fall beauty, on the other hand? Well, that’s a little more “done-up” and formal. It can be hard to start doing your makeup differently after a summer of fun, so world-renowned makeup artist and beauty mogul for stars like Angelina Jolie, Trish McEvoy shared a few tips about how to best bring your makeup routine from summer into autumn.

Trish McEvoy Makeup Tips: How To Transition Summer Makeup Into Fall

First things first, you’re going to have to address that your tan (whether you got if from the sun’s rays or a squeeze bottle) isn’t made to last into the autumn. Trish says that since you can’t keep extending your tan forever, you have to learn how to work with your lighter skin that’s more prone to showing imperfections.

“As you transition to a lighter skin tone for Fall/Winter, evening out your complexion becomes even more important,” says Trish. She recommends “a foundation or skin-perfector with treatment benefits to help skin recover from summer wear and tear, and with hydrating properties in preparation for the drier weather,” like Trish McEvoy Beauty Balm Instant Solutions SPF 35.

Also important for the face, says Trish, is to transition out your bronzer in favor of bright blushes that “make you look lit from within—as if you’ve just taken a brisk walk.” To get this stunning look, Trish says your should apply ”a pop of pink to the high apples of cheeks and blend it slightly out to achieve your perfect fall face color.” Try Trish McEvoy Face Shapers to get this fresh color for yourself.

Autumn Eye Makeup Tips

As the days get shorter and colder, it’s important that your eyes look bright and rested. Trish says that the best way to achieve this effect is to apply a brightening concealer like Trish McEvoy Instant Eye Lift “applied with Trish’s ’Triangle of Light’ inverted triangle technique under each eye”. Apply underneath the entire eye in a ‘V’ shape. The shape of the highlighting triangle instantly wakes up your whole face.

As autumn fashion and beauty is a little more formal, Trish says it’s important to start defining your facial features more:

Intensify your eye liner, sculpt your face with bronzer and highlight, and shape your brows.

For this upcoming season’s beauty trends, Trish says the “look is muted with definition achieved through highlighting around the mouth, a trick that makes lips look naturally fuller. Pat down lip color with your finger for a sexy, blurred, just-kissed finish”. To try this look now, use Trish McEvoy Correct and Brighten around the mouth and any shade in the Trish McEvoy Lip Color Collection.
