The ‘Getaway’ star tells HollywoodLife.com that surrounding herself with ‘good friends,’ including Taylor, is the secret to her success!
You’ve got to hand it to Selena Gomez; despite living nearly her entire life in the public eye, the former Disney queen has managed to squeak by with nary a scandal attached to her name. So how does she do it? “I have good people around me,” she told HollywoodLife.com exclusively Aug. 26 at the Los Angeles premiere of her new film Getaway. “I have a strong belief that you must surround yourself with good people.”
“You are who you surround yourself with, especially on tour,” Selena continued. “I have a very strong family and good friends. I just want to do things that people end up respecting me for.”
Selena Gomez: Taylor Swift Is ‘Great’
One of those good friends, as all true Selena fans know, is Taylor Swift. Selena told us that having a friend like Taylor is one of the ways she manages to stay true to herself.
“It’s so good to have her around,” she said. “She’s great!”
Selena also let us in on a little secret: The VMAs aren’t all they appear to be:
It’s nice to have people you know when you’re in an environment with a lot of people, like at the VMAs. People think I know a lot of people, but I really don’t. I am not that cool. [Laughter]
