When Selena Gomez glamorously hit the red carpet at the LA premiere for her new movie, ‘Getaway’ on Aug. 26, she spoke to HollywoodLife.com in an EXCLUSIVE interview about upcoming movies, music and her relationship with bestie Taylor Swift. Read on for all the details!
Selena Gomez, who is coming off her Best Pop Video win at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards, was confident and down to earth as we chatted with her about the roles she wants to take on, Hollywood craziness and who keeps her grounded in our EXCLUSIVE interview with the talented singer and actress.
Selena Gomez Future Movie Roles
At first glance, Selena is sweet, pretty and never has a hair out of place — but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t want to toughen up her image a bit. So what’s next for her in music and film?
“I have to do things that people don’t expect me to do. I have to surprise people instead of being a part of the next teen comedy because I have done that,” she said. “I want to dye my hair black and be a bad ass. I think it’s fun, I think it’s good for me.”
Even though she wants to be more “bad ass,” we think she’s doing well with her roles already! Selena is getting more and more acclaim with each film role she takes on. Currently, she stars as a whip-smart and savvy girl, named “The Kid” in Getaway, alongside Ethan Hawke and Jon Voight. In March, she was in the critically-acclaimed film, Spring Breakers, alongside James Franco in an intense role that she played perfectly. With her acting reputation quickly rising to the top, we wondered — would she ever like to direct in the future?
“Well, I have to be much better at what I do before I can direct other people. I would love that, and Ethan Hawke has given me some great advice about that, so I would, but it would have to be when I perfect a little more of the art that I do. Then maybe I would be a little more daring! But I am still learning,” she laughs.
Acting, Singing & Relationships: Selena Wants to ‘Push Herself’
Signing on tour and acting in huge movies is a big balancing act for Selena, but it sounds like she has the hang of it, and she admittedly wants to do more.
“I think its good to have a balance of music and acting and apply myself to both, because I know that what I want to do to push myself, so its fun!” she said.
