So sad. Jamaal will be out of practice for a significant amount of time due to an unfortunate foot injury that occurred on August 12. After seeing various surgeons, the football player was finally diagnosed.
The Kansas City Chiefs’ running back, Jamaal Charles, had his right foot examined by two orthopedic surgeons and they confirmed the recent diagnosis of a mild strain.
Jamaal Charles Foot Injury — Kansas City Chiefs Running Back Suffers Strain
”His ankle ligaments were fine. He had some pain on the outside bone of his foot. We did an X-ray. That was negative. There’s a tendon that attaches right at that spot and that’s what is sore right now. That’s why we call it a strain,” Chiefs trainer Rick Burkholder told Yahoo! News.
Rick said Jamaal felt some soreness up his leg, but that was expected.
”People are speculating Lisfranc and all that,” Rick said, referencing the mid-foot injury that caused problems for former Chiefs running back Larry Johnson. ”[Jamaal] doesn’t have any discomfort there. I’ve had him see two orthopedic surgeons and everyone agrees he has a mild foot strain.”
Jamaal turned his right ankle early in practice on August 12. It’s unclear how long he’ll be out of practice, but it appears unlikely that he’ll play in the August 16 preseason game against San Francisco at Arrowhead Stadium.
We hope Jamall recovers quickly. Our thoughts go out to Jamaal during this difficult time.
