We’re innocent! ‘Real Housewives of New Jersey’ stars, Joe and Teresa Giudice, reportedly pleaded not guilty to federal fraud charges, as they stood before a judge in Newark, New Jersey on August 14.
Teresa Giudice and her husband, Joe Giudice were due back in court on August 14, where they pleaded not guilty to a 39-count indictment with conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud, bank fraud, making false statements on loan applications and bankruptcy fraud.
Joe & Teresa Giudice Plead Not Guilty — Innocent In Fraud Charges
Teresa, who wore a cream-colored suit, was seen clutching her husband’s hand as they entered the courthouse in Newark, New Jersey.
Inside, Teresa, 41, and Joe, 43, reportedly pleaded not guilty to fraud charges and are hoping for a plea deal that would not include jail time, but that is looking unlikely for the duo.
"The government has a very, very strong case against the Giudices and wants to make an example of them. The Giudices will also be facing serious, significant financial penalties," a source told Radar Online.
After Teresa’s lawyer told the judge she was not guilty, the reality TV star reportedly headed off to a book signing, Philly.com claims.
The Real Housewives of New Jersey stars are out on $500,000 bond each and if they are convicted, they could face 50 years in jail. Joe, who is not an American citizen, also faces deportation.
Teresa & Joe Giudice Indicted: Teresa Releases A Statement
After the charges were handed down on July 29, Teresa spoke out, saying, "Today is the most difficult day for our family." She continued:
I support Joe and, as a wonderful husband and father, I know he wants only the best for our lovely daughters and me. I am committed to my family and intend to maintain our lives in the best way possible, which includes continuing my career. As a result, I am hopeful that we will resolve this matter with the Government as quickly as possible.
