It takes a village to raise any baby, but so far Will and Kate have no plans to hire help! Traditionally, caretakers for royal children have had a major role in their upbringing. But this royal family plans to be more hands-on! Do YOU think this is a good idea?
Kate Middleton and Prince William are enjoying spending quality bonding time with their little boy Prince George — but they are also putting in the work that comes with new parenthood! Carole Middleton and Palace workers will definitely have a hand in helping to raise the little prince, but the new parents are trying to do as much as possible on their own!
Royal Baby Nanny? — No Hired Help For Prince George
The royal couple have been getting tons of love, help, and wisdom from the Middletons — especially from new grandma Carole Middleton — and the royal family back at the Palace, but beyond the basic support (and occasional diaper changes!) Will and Kate are hoping to be really hands-on in Prince George’s upbringing.
“The couple have no nanny, nor do they have plans to hire one for some time,” reports Us Weekly. Will and Kate are “doing as much as they can by themselves,” a source close to the family tells the magazine. “The baby is always with one of them, or asleep.”
That’s not to say that Will and Kate would turn down a helping hand — housekeeper Antonella Fresolone has offered her assistance with Prince George.
Prince William & Kate Middleton: Going Against Tradition
“Before William’s birth in 1982, nannies were as much a part of royal child rearing as nursery rhymes and etiquette lessons,” says People magazine. Will himself had several nannies — including caretaker Olga Powell, with whom he remained close until her death in 2012.
Nannies have been a huge part of raising high-profile babies, but royal children have always had a special bond with their caretakers.
A real shift in royal childcare came with Princess Diana‘s desire to play an active role in her sons’ upbringing. She would go so far as to purposefully give the nanny the day off and skip out on royal events just to spend extra time with her kids.
What do YOU think, HollyMoms? Do you think it’s cool that the royal family doesn’t have a nanny? Or will a nanny soon become a necessity?
