The designers were put to the test — and it really wasn’t all fun and games! Read on for all the drama from tonight’s episode, guest-judged by Kelly Osbourne!
All of the designers headed to the famous Coney Island Boardwalk in Brooklyn where they were told they had to break into teams of two and hand out Yoplait frozen yogurt out of a cart! This was the first team challenge, so you could imagine things got a little intense!
Project Runway Recap:
The designers were broken up into teams of two. The teams were: 1. Alexander & Justin 2. Kate & Helen 3. Jeremy & Ken 4. Sue & Sandro 5. Bradon & Karen 6. Dom & Alexandria. The seventh team was Miranda & Timothy, which is very ironic because as the names were being picked out of the hat, Miranda confessed, ‘I don’t want to work with Timothy because there’s some bad blood between us and I just don’t enjoy his attitude.’ Wow! Well you could imagine their partnership lead to a whole lot of drama!
The challenge was this: 1. Each team gets a Yoplait frozen yogurt cart and they have to give out samples. 2. Collect descriptive words – meaning – write down the words people use to describe the frozen yogurt (‘luxurious, creamy, divine.’) 3. Choose three words to inspire your design and then those words will be the theme of their outfit.
Everybody looked like they were having a blast on the boardwalk while they were at all the fun booths and games – they looked a bit out of place – but in the end they collected tons of prizes! They bring all of their giant winnings (giant toys like bananas and frogs!) back to the studio and they are told they could design anything they want – but – it has to be from the material of the toys – whoa!!! – sounds super tough!
Sue and Sandro who are good friends and always have a great time together, were so excited to be paired with one another – but then they realized that they are better friends than partners and a lot of drama and uneasiness ensued and it lead to Sue giving up and telling Sandro that he could be the boss and she will just be his assistant – wow – that takes a lot of guts! Sandro was extremely satisfied to say the least!
In other news, Tim Gunn told Miranda & Timothy that their dress looked like ‘a Disney Princess and a hospital gown.’ They got all upset started fighting – and the tears began to fall! Timothy and Miranda were bickering back and forth the whole entire time and then Timothy got a letter from his model – which is the first time that has ever happened on the show – and he starting bawling his eyes out – obviously.
The Runway:
The prize was $150,000 provided by GoBank, a bank made exclusively for mobile phones, a laptop, a years supply of spring water, and a vacation for two.
The dresses were subpar – Broden and Karen had an interesting dress – a blue and green plastic mini dress that was very poofy and had a giant green flower embellishment in the bottom left corner and a giant white flower on top of the shoulder. Our ultimate favorite, (and the judges’ ultimate fave!) was Helen & Kate’s dress which was made out of a bunch of red sombreros! The dress was strapless and had a tight bodice whereas the bottom was the flowy brims of the hats which looked amazing!
The winner of the challenge was Helen – she completely deserved it – and the loser was Timothy – who also completely deserved it because he is constantly crying on the show and the dress he made with Miranda was boring- it was a plain blue plastic high-low dress.
