Famous Hollywood stars are voicing their support for the gay community on Twitter as the Supreme Court hears two cases that will forever change the landscape of gay rights in the United States.
The Supreme Court is hearing two monumental cases this week, on March 26 and 27, regarding the Defense Of Marriage Act and California’s Proposition 8, which have both been the source of much debate among Hollywood as well as the rest of the country. Some of our favorite stars are tweeting about marriage equality — see what they’re saying!

With these two cases, the court is considering the constitutionality of Proposition 8, passed by the citizens of California in 2008; and the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), passed by the House (342-67) and Senate (85-14) and signed by President Clinton in 1996. A decision will be made in June 2013.
What Are DOMA and Prop 8?
DOMA defines marriage as the legal union of one man and one woman for federal and inter-state recognition purposes in the United States. And Prop 8, passed in the Nov. 2008 election, added a new provision to the California Constitution, which provides that “only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California.”
