Following the tragic death of Cory, his ‘Glee’ family and beloved girlfriend Lea gathered for a private memorial on July 25, where they had an ‘emotional celebration’ of his life.
Lea Michele, Ryan Murphy and the cast and crew of the hit show Glee gathered on July 25 to say goodbye to one of their own, Cory Monteith, who died unexpectedly at the age of 31. They shared “memories and music” as they remembered the life of the Canadian actor. Read on for all the details.

Twentieth Century Fox released a statement regarding the touching service, and the whole Glee family were in attendance.
Today, Ryan Murphy and Lea Michele gathered the cast, crew and producers of Glee, along with colleagues from the network and studio, to share memories and music in an emotional celebration of the life of Cory Monteith. We thank the public for their continued outpouring of love and support as we grieve our friend and colleague during this difficult time.
This is nice news in the wake of all the sadness. The Glee cast have always proven over the years that they are a family unit, and in the light of such a tragic incident they have pulled even closer together.
Cory died from a the dangerous mix of alcohol and heroin, and following his death many of his Glee co-workers spoke out.

I have never lost a friend. In this difficult time, I am leaning on all of the wonderful memories we shared with Cory, how many ways he was able to make us smile. Glee was a gift to all of us. It gave us a family in this industry. We really cut our teeth and grew up on this show. In playing underdogs, we learned that we had dug into the hearts of our viewers and that we could stay there.
Cory is so deserving of that place in everyone's hearts. He was one of the most generous and kind people that I have ever met. He had a smart, curious mind, he was an enormous talent. He was loving to not only me, but my family. My heart goes out to his family, to Lea, to everyone that is struggling with the loss of our friend. We will miss you Cory. We will always carry a piece of you with us.
