Bring on the water works! When the fighting ceased and the last model had walked, which designer won and which one was left cold on the runway?

“They say diamonds are a girl’s best friend, let’s see if they are a designer’s best friend, too.” Heidi Klum had to bring out the security guards for this week’s challenge which involved over $30 million dollars worth of jewels. As the models stood on the runway dripping in diamonds the designers, by way of the button bag, chose their favorite looks. Their challenge was to then create a piece of evening wear that could stand up to the beautiful gems. Timothy was least excited about the challenge, saying he’s not impressed by money and diamonds. Luckily for him he was the last name pulled out of the button bag and didn’t compromise his morals picking out any jewels, he just got the last set. Bradon, as the winner of last week’s challenge, went first and could not be eliminated this week. He was the only safe one!

‘Project Runway’ Season 12 Episode 2 Recap:

The drama began when Tim Gunn informed the designers that they would only have one day to complete this challenge — and the idea of going to Mood and spending money for the first time was too much for some to handle. Sandro and Ken began fighting no more than the sewing began and Sue got extremely flustered when Dom unthreaded her sewing machine in the middle of her project. Kahindo didn’t have a clue how to work with her fabric and Timothy was working with literal trash fabrics that he pulled from the garbage at Mood because he’s all about sustainability — but hey, at least there were some designers who kept their cool!

When it came time to present their designs on the runway, everyone was confident except for Helen. She broke down into tears moments before her model came out on the runway and the show had to be stopped so Tim could comfort her. It turned out she did, in fact, have something to cry about as her unfinished and ill-fitting gown landed her in the bottom and put her at risk to go home. She wasn’t alone! She was joined in the bottom by Timothy’s “backwards” looking dress, Kahindo’s butchered silk chartreuse cocktail dress, Kate’s gown that was fit for a queen, Sandro’s beige and black lace dress, and Dom’s “Palm Beach” looking gown.

Project Runway’s Guest Judge — Eric Daman:

After much deliberation the judges, who included Eric Daman, (Emmy Award winning fashion designer for Gossip Girl, The Carrie Diaries and other hit CW shows), decided that Kate was the winner of the challenge since they had virtually nothing bad to say about her victorian silk-taffeta gown. Kahindo ended up going home and much to Helen’s relief, because her dress just didn’t work with the jewels — and that was the whole point of the challenge, after all.

There’s bound to be more drama next week as the competition gets stiffer, especially since the Kate, who got a second chance this season, was the winner of this week’s challenge. She’s sure to have a target on her back!

What did you think of this week’s results? Was Tim right not to save Kahindo?
