Katy Perry, 28, is no stranger to over the top fashion (remember that candy-cane sequin bra that shot out whipped cream?). So, we we’re pleasantly surprised to see Katy rocking a classic look on The Smurfs 2 red carpet on July 28 in Westwood, Calif. The singer looked like the epitome of 1950′s beauty, and we’ll show you how to get her retro hair below.
Katy Perry’s Hair At ‘Smurfs 2′ — Get Her Vintage Look
Katy’s beauty look channeled that of a young Liz Taylor — classic and lovely. And while retro hair can seem totally overwhelming, don’t over think the styling process. Katy’s hair was done by hair stylist Jen Atkin, but you can achieve the same 1950′s hairdo with a curling iron, some hairspray, and a deep side part.
To get Katy’s look, first make a dramatic side part. This simple step does a lot of the work for you, as deep side parts are highly reminiscent of vintage glamour.
Next, you’ll simply need to curl your hair. We recommend Hot Tools 1″ Professional Spring Curling Iron, which will give you full, bouncy curls. After you’ve curled your hair, lightly brush through the curls with your fingers to loosen them ever so slightly.
