Fans of ‘The Bachelorette’ were — and still are — shocked when Brooks dramatically left Desiree on the semi finale, and now he is admitting that he ‘never’ even considered returning to the show, because he knows he made the right decision.

From the moment Brooks Forester dramatically left on the July 29 semi final of The Bachelorettefans speculated that he would return to win back Desiree Hartsock‘s heart, but in a new interview Brooks insists that he was “never” even thinking of returning. In fact, he says it was “never even an option,” because he was totally honest when he said he didn’t have any feelings for her. That is a little harsh!

Brooks: I Never Regretted Leaving Desiree

After Brooks’ devastating departure, Des became engaged to Chris Siegfried on the romantic finale, but a lot of fans tweeted throughout the August 5 show that they were hoping Brooks would return.

However, Brooks revealed to HollywoodLife.com in a group interview that that was never going to happen. He said:

No, that was never — never an option and never — never my feelings after making that decision. I felt like I make the right decision going into that. I didn't have a moment where I felt I should go back and rehash things out with Desiree. You know, was there — was there immediate things that I missed about here and was I sad to see that relationship come to a close? Yes, I think after the conversation and my interview with the producers I was beyond sad. You know, sad to see that relationship end.

While Brooks was sad to see the relationship end, he was confident that he was making the right decision.

Yes, I know made the right decision and that was about being honest with Desiree and with myself. And that conversation and the breakup, as difficult as it was and as bad as it hurt, you know, I – I just don't know how I can live without being honest. So, I look back and say I know that's the right decision and I knew that was the right decision going into that conversation with her.

While Brooks words are a little harsh, he is so right to have been totally honest with Des, and he was right to stay away. It would have been so unfair to return and break her heart again.

They came face to face again on the After The Final Rose special, and Des admitted the following day on GMA that she got the closure she needed!

“It was good to see him,” Desiree admitted. “But I feel like that day in Antigua, we were able to be so honest, that that was the closure I needed. It was nice to see him.”

All is well that ends well!

Desiree Hartsock: Chris Siegfried Was NOT My Second Choice

Desiree, 27, accepted Chris’ romantic proposal in the Caribbean on the most explosive finale ever, where fans saw her pause his kneeling down so that she could explain to him that she really loved him all along.

Desiree admitted in an interview that Chris was never her second choice, and that she did not “settle” for him because Brooks left.

Speaking to the naysayers who doubt her love for Chris, Desiree said “I absolutely did not settle. Brooks’ leaving gave me the opportunity to love Chris more.” During the proposal, Desiree says she remembers thinking “I knew he was in my life for a reason and I had to pursue that.”

How romantic! Desiree and Chris are a match made in heaven, and she definitely made the right choice.

“Finding Chris was everything I’ve ever wanted,” Des said. “It’s real and it’s going to last.”

What do YOU think HollywoodLifers? Are you shocked that Brooks didn’t even think about returning? Or was he right to stand by his choice?
