Just when we thought Damon and Stefan were back on good terms, Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley are facing off for Choice TV Actor: Fantasy/Sci-Fi at the Teen Choice Awards Aug. 11. This awards show is going to be a battle of the CW hotties! We’ve highlighted some of their best moments from season four, but it doesn’t make the choice any easier.
Forget the Emmys, the Oscars and the Grammys, the Teen Choice Awards has the toughest category of the year. Both Ian and Paul had an incredible year with their characters, so this decision is extremely difficult. Now we know how Elena (Nina Dobrev) feels!
Why We Loved Ian Somerhalder This Season
Ian was terrific on the fourth season of The Vampire Diaries. Who could forget the look on Damon’s face when Elena finally told him she loved him? Or when he revealed he would never take the cure for vampirism? Ian consistently proves his acting chops every season on The Vampire Diaries. All in all, the fourth season was a great season for Ian because Damon finally got to be happy for a change!
Why We Loved Paul Wesley This Season
Let’s not forget that Paul was exemplary as Stefan over the course of the season. It nearly ripped our hearts apart as we watched Stefan get his heart broken as Elena chose Damon over him. A piece of our souls actually died when Elena was forced to admit she slept with Damon because she loved him in front of Stefan. We also loved watching Stefan’s friendship with Caroline (Candice Accola); Paul was really able to show off his wide range of talent.
To be fair, these aren’t your only two options. If you’re not Team Stefan or Team Damon, you can choose between the other nominees: Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles from Supernatural or Arrow’s Stephen Amell!
