The 2013 MTV VMAs were held on Aug. 25, the twelve year anniversary of Aaliyah’s death, and her fans are enraged that she was not honored at the show. Read on for their reactions.
On Aug. 25 2001, promising pop singer Aaliyah was killed in a plane accident in the Bahamas, and on the twelve year anniversary of her death she was not even mentioned at the VMAs. Fans took to Twitter to express their outrage at the snub, and they called out Miley Cyrus in the process. Were you upset that Aaliyah was not mentioned?

Aaliyah, who would be 34-years-old today if she lived, won two moon men during her career. At the 2000 VMAs, Aaliyah won the Best Female Video and Best Video from a Film awards for “Try Again.”
Not surprisingly, fans were angered that she was not mentioned. Here are some of their tweets:

Miley sang both “We Can’t Stop” and “Blurred Lines” with Robin Thicke, and her highly over sexualized performance included twerking and gyrating.
