The sexy singer only has a few more weeks to go until she gives birth to her baby girl — her third child overall — and on Saturday, Aug. 24, Monica celebrated her daughter-to-be, and revealed the little one’s name to all the guests in attendance!
Monica, 32, already has two sons, so she’s a pro at throwing baby showers. And on Aug. 24, just weeks before her third child is due, the singer definitely proved it.
Monica Throws All-Out Baby Shower
Monica invited close to 200 guests to her carnival-themed shower, which was held at Jermaine Dupri’s house, according to People. Her NBA star husband Shannon Brown was in attendance, as were other stars like Ludacris, Nene and Greg Leakes, and Keri Hilson. The big baby party stayed true to the theme, featuring white horses, stilt walkers, jugglers, and a miniature circus tent.
“It was very whimsical, just like a Disney princess movie and just as I had envisioned it,” Monica told People. “There was so much love in the room and everybody had a great time.”
Monica Reveals Her Baby Daughter’s Name
But the big reveal of the party was her daughter-to-be’s name! On the shower’s pink glittery invites and the coasters the name was printed: “Laiyah.”
On the (possibly Stars Wars-inspired) name, Monica said, “It was girly, feminine, and picked by her godmother so it has special meaning.”
Monica also revealed that she’s happy to be welcoming a girl into her house of three boys. “I know everything about WrestleMania and Tonka Trucks so I'm excited to share shopping dates and manis and pedis with her,” the singer humorously said.
