Lady Gaga was absolutely appalled when the boy band was booed on stage after receiving the award for Best Song of the Summer at the VMAs. Watch the video to find out what she said to the guys backstage!
Lady Gaga was not impressed by the mean spirited attitude towards One Direction at the MTV Video Music Awards on Aug. 25, held at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. The singer was so outraged, that after her performance of “Applause,” which opened the show, she pulled the guys aside backstage and gave them a pep talk.
Lady Gaga Upset That One Direction Gets Booed & Storms Off
One Direction was up against some pretty big names for “Song of the Summer,” so it makes sense that fans of the other artists up for the award would be upset when their acts didn’t win.
Daft Punk was nominated for “Get Lucky,” and Robin Thicke was also nominated in the same category for “Blurred Lines.” But when the British boys prevailed and took home the Moon Man, the crowd erupted into very loud boos.
Backstage, Lady Gaga was caught on camera saying this: “
You guys deserve every single thing that you have accomplished in the past few years. I am going to leave the award show now because they are obviously trying to put you in the wrong light and it’s disgusting.

When Taylor Swift hit the stage to accept her award for “Best Female Video,” she called out Harry!
“I also wanna thank the person who inspired this song, who knows exactly who he is, because now I got one of these!”
This just was not One Direction’s best night! But then again, they did take home a Moon Man!
