Hannah Montana is dead – Miley Cyrus killed her for good at the Barclays Center on Aug. 25 with the help of a foam finger and a team of teddy bears. But there’s still at least one person holding onto the memory of the Disney star – Brooke Shields, who played the mother on Hannah Montana, made it clear that she was NOT a fan of the new Miley while on Today on Aug. 26.
Brooke Shields Disses Miley Cyrus’ VMA Performance
During a recap of the MTV Video Music Awards, Brooke, 48, admitted that she was one of the people who was disturbed by Miley’s overly sexual, raunchy rendition of “We Can’t Stop” and subsequent performance with Robin Thicke.
“I was Hannah Montana’s mother!,” Brooke joked with shock. “Where did I go wrong?” Putting jokes aside, Brooke then gave her true opinion on the performance: “I just want to know who’s advising her, and why [the racy display] is necessary… Our children can’t watch that.”
Brooke then laid down the hammer, stating, “I feel like it’s a bit desperate.”
Miley Cyrus’ VMA Performance — Is Brooke Shields Right?
Just by taking a quick look at Twitter, it’s clear that Brooke isn’t alone in feeling this way. Miley’s performance was completely crazy and over the top, and yes, probably a little inappropriate. But isn’t that sort of the point?
“It’s our party we can do we want,” is what the hook of her single, “We Can’t Stop,” says. If Miley wants to twerk all over Robin Thicke’s striped pants, then that’s probably what she’s going to do.
And her Hannah Montana mom might just have to deal with it.
