Chris Brown, you really shined through a difficult interview with Matt Lauer on the ’Today’ show, April 1, with maturity and humility.
Chris Brown, you told Matt Lauer on the Today show, this morning, on April 1, that you know that assaulting Rihanna was “totally wrong” and that you will never hit her again. It was exactly what your fans and people who are NOT your fans needed to hear.
It was very important for the world to hear that you have really accepted responsibility for that terrible night on Feb. 9, 2009, when you lost control of your temper and assaulted Rihanna.
You were 19 at the time and grew up in a house where you witnessed domestic violence; But when you spoke to Matt, you made no attempt to excuse your actions and that was very good.
“I’ve been humbled by the whole experience from me losing everything…knowing what I did was totally wrong,” you admitted.
Chris Brown Is More Mature Now
You did come across as a sincerely changed and far more mature man than when you became so upset when you appeared on Good Morning America on March 22, 2011, and were visibly upset when host Robin Roberts asked you about Rihanna.
This time, you spoke about attending a 52-week domestic violence counseling program, every Monday in Virginia. “I remember going and just sitting in there and just like why did I do what I did and really wanted to get help, ” you told Matt.
It took time, but you were able to learn to be a better man and to apologize to Rihanna. Rihanna “knows my heart and I know her heart,” now, you told Lauer.
Chris Brown Understand The Repercussions Of His Actions
You also confessed that you understand that if you behave badly again, you will damage both your own and Rihanna’s reputations.
“Absolutely. Absolutely. So that’s why I’m moving forward, positive,” you replied to Matt, when he asked you about this.
Again, that’s a big and mature step. You fully understand all the consequences of having a lapse in your behavior.
Chris, you answered all of Matt’s questions without hesitation and with openness. You smiled and actually looked happy to be able to speak your mind.
Chris Brown Is Leaving The Past Behind Him
I bet it was a relief for you to get this interview done. You looked like you were actually welcoming the opportunity to let the world know that you understood the gravity of what you did, that you were accepting responsibility for it and that you were going to continue to work on being a better man.
All of this couldn’t be easy to do, but you accomplished all that you needed to do; Now, every time you need to talk about it, it will be a little easier.
Chris, you can’t ever move beyond the past until you have confronted it.
You did that very well in your Today show interview. Good for you!
Do you agree, HollywoodLifers? Did Chris conduct himself well? Let me know!
