So sad. A 6-year-old boy was spotted holding a gun, seconds after his 4-year-old sister was shot inside a white Mercedes-Benz. Police say the shooting was an accident, but many details are still unknown.

Rahquel Carr, 4, was airlifted to a local hospital, where doctors declared her dead, after the shooting. Although police have not confirmed that her brother killed her, The Miami Herald reported that he was seen with the gun in his hand directly after the incident. The shooting took place as young Rahquel sat in a car outside her grandfather's home in Miami-Dade, Florida, according to a report by the Daily Mail.

Rahquel Carr's Life Taken Too Soon

At about 6 PM on March 20, a shot was fired, striking poor little Rahquel in the head and chest. In the midst of the tragedy, police are putting together the pieces, while trying to figure out the events that led up to Raquel's death.

"We will be looking at whom the firearm belonged to," Miami-Dade Police Detective Roy Rutland told WPLG, "where the firearm was in the vehicle at the time, along with who was present when the child was shot."

Police say they believe an adult was in or nearby the car when the shooting happened. Sonya Wheeler was the first one to hear the news of Rahquel’s death. It was a call that she would never forget, according to WPLG-ABC.

Recent reports have since recognized the adult as Carr's mother.

Detective Rutland revealed that two other children were inside the car when the shot was fired. Both children were under 10-years-old.

"Sometimes kids don't know the difference between a real and a fake gun," neighbor Michael Hardaway, 55, told the Miami Herald. "It's just hard to think about it. The whole neighborhood is torn up about it."

Rahquel’s Grandfather Also Hospitalized

Rahquel's grandfather was also hospitalized after the incident because he was emotionally distraught. The two were extremely close, and he would regularly watch her ride her bike outside.

"The grandfather just loved her so much," said Michael, who lives next door. "He couldn't take it."

The Miami-Dade Office of the State Attorney is currently reviewing the case to see if charges should be filed. The night before her death, Rahquel and her family traveled to the Miami-Dade County Fair Expo where they all enjoyed riding kiddie rides.
