The third round of 12 talents competing for a place in the semi-finals on ‘America’s Got Talent’ raised the stakes on the Aug. 6 episode. Some of the performances were total game-changers and left us clamoring for more!
Who knew America had so much talent! The Aug. 6 live episode re-introduced us to some of our favorite acts and made it known that this is by far the best season of America’s Got Talent yet. Only four acts will move on to the semi-finals, and we’re already mentally — and emotionally — preparing for tomorrow’s results after Alexandr Magala’s shocking elimination on the July 31 episode. As always, we here at HollywoodLife.com have picked our top five favorites from this week’s episode.
Top 5 Performances From Aug. 6
5. Jim Meskimen
While we’ve already seen Angela Hoover try the impressions routine in last week’s round of competitors, Jim takes it to a whole new level. He made the judges pick celebrity names from a list and he would instantly go into character. From George Clooney to Robin Williams to Robert Downey, Jr., Jim was spot-on. Even though he is surrounded by incredible singers and dangerous acrobatics, his performance is nothing short of entertaining.
4. Deanna DellaCioppa
We all wondered how Deanna could top her powerful performance of “And I’m Telling You I’m Not Going” in her first audition, and she did just that in the Aug. 6 episode. Deanna sang Foreigner’s “I Want To Know What Love Is” and we absolutely loved every second of it. Deanna looked beautiful in a gorgeous silver gown amidst hundreds of sparkling lights, which only added to her incredible performance. Heidi Klum proclaimed, “I think you nailed it tonight, girl,” and Mel B had only one word for her: “flawless.” Snaps for Deanna!
3. Jonathan Allen
This kid is amazing. His compelling rendition of the Broadway tune “The Impossible Dream” gave us chills. Jonathan was singing upon a pedestal and rightfully so. This 20-year-old has a remarkable talent far beyond his years. He took a risk by not choosing an traditional opera song and it paid off. Mel B told him, “I love you and I think all of America is falling in love with you,” and Heidi just adores him. Even though Howard Stern said he was going to have a tough time in the competition amidst all the other great opera talents like Forte and Branden James, we think Jonathan has the chops to compete with them.
2. Kenichi Ebina
This Matrix-style dancer totally blew us away with his game-changing performance. Kenichi completely switched it up and combined his martial arts and dancing with an interactive game! His routine was in four stages and each one just got better and better. It was unlike anything we’ve ever seen before. He got a standing ovation from everyone, including Howard. Howie Mandel declared, “I am begging America, Kenichi has to win the million dollars!” and Howard explained his reasoning behind standing ovation: “I gave you a standing ovation because it's genius, genius, genius.” If this act doesn’t work out — which we’re like 100% sure it will — Kenichi should think about entering the video game industry.
1. Chicago Boyz
This act — without a doubt — stole the show. These group of youngsters take our breath away with their energetic routine featuring crazy tumbling and a human jump rope. They are immensely athletic and so fun to watch. You want a little evidence? They took their human jump rope act to the next level. While one of the boys was jumping over the swinging youngster, three of the others were tumbling OVER the jump rope. All in all, this routine is insane, extraordinary, and we just love it. Let’s hope the one member of the Chicago Boyz isn’t really hurt from landing on his foot wrong because this group has us begging for more!
Remember: only four acts will move on to the semi-finals. Make sure to tune in to the Aug. 7 episode to find out if your favorites stay or go and to see Jason Derulo perform!
