As the hit-and-run case against Chris crumbles, the R&B star was officially booked on August 5. The successful R&B singer took the necessary next step towards being fully exonerated. Read on.

Facing an alleged hit-and-run charge for an accident in May, Chris Brown was officially booked on August 5. The singer reportedly turned himself in a day ahead of schedule, so that he could avoid being photographed by the paparazzi.

Chris Brown Goes To Jail — Enters The Slammer In Hit-And-Run Case

According to online records from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Chris arrived at the Van Nuys jail at 2:40 p.m., was booked two minutes later and then released at 3:22 p.m. with no bail.

Getting booked is merely a step towards getting the hit-and-run charge dismissed. For a judge to actually hear the case — and to then drop the charge — Chris first needs to be officially put into the system.

It’s only a matter of time now before everything is dropped, Chris’ rep told HollywoodLife.com in a statement:

Two counts against Chris Brown were dismissed yesterday in relation to the Hit and Run charge to which Chris pleaded Not Guilty. In order for the charge to be heard by a judge, Chris has to be officially booked. We expect this charge to be dismissed as well, as the lawyer for the driver in this case clearly specified that his client did not want to press charges.

The hit-and-run charge is the only one that remains after prosecutors dropped misdemeanor charges against Chris for driving without insurance and driving without a license on July 23, according to the Los Angeles Times. Chris’ attorney, Mark Geragos, filed to have the remaining charge dismissed, saying that Chris had reached an agreement with the other driver, Olga Kovalenko.

Breaking Down Chris Brown’s Alleged Hit-And-Run Case

The Los Angeles District Attorney first filed to have Chris’ probation revoked after the alleged hit-and-run in May 2013. Even though the victim, Olga, did not press charges, the D.A. alleges that Chris fled the scene without going through the necessary motions, such as providing police his license and insurance card. However, both Chris and Karrueche Tran, who was with him at the time, refute that claim.

“I did everything I was suppose to do during the so called hit n run,” Chris tweeted on July 22, “I provided the correct info. There were no injuries or damages. C'mon!!”

And a source close to Karrueche told HollywoodLife.com exclusively that she watched Chris give all of his information to Olga following the accident:

Karrueche's got his back! She was there and witnessed the whole thing. She saw how everything went down. She was right there and watched Chris give this woman all his information and she even gave the woman her phone number, since she was involved.

Chris so often is not afforded the benefit of the doubt, so we’re happy hear that good things are coming to Chris, and to report that the truth is coming out in this case.
