Chris says he’s ‘tired of being famous for making a mistake.’ Are you bummed he could be quitting music?
What do Chris Brown and Amanda Bynes have in common? They’re both talking early retirement! Chris, 24, took to Twitter on Aug. 6 to announce his plans to leave music behind forever, and it sounds like his decision stems from his tumultuous history with Rihanna.
Here’s Chris’ entire shocking statement, which was divided into two separate tweets:
Don’t worry mainstream America. After this X album, it’ll probably be my last album. … Being famous is amazing when it’s for ur music and talent. I’m tired of being famous for a mistake I made when i was 18. I’m cool & over it!
Needless to say, this announcement came completely out of left field, especially since Chris just shot (and directed) the music video for his new single “Love More” with Nicki Minaj – and he seemed really excited about the future of his career.
Why the sudden change of heart, we wonder?
Chris Brown: A History Of Violence
If you’re wondering which “mistake” Chris is referring to, here’s a quick refresher: Chris viciously assaulted then-girlfriend Rihanna on Feb. 8, 2009, a decision that nearly cost him everything. He eventually released an apology video – ”Words cannot begin to express how sorry and saddened I am over what transpired,” he said — but for much of the public, it was too little too late.
In the years following, Chris gradually returned to the music scene, eventually achieving success with singles like 2012′s “Don’t Wake Me Up” and 2013′s “Fine China.”
It seemed as though Chris was well on his way to regaining his reputation in Hollywood, as well as his fans’ forgiveness — so why drop out now?
