Desiree and Chris have opened up in their first in depth interview since becoming engaged on ‘The Bachelorette’ season finale, and Desiree is silencing any naysayers who said she chose her second choice, as she admits that Chris is ‘the one.’
Desiree Hartsock became engaged to Chris Siegfried in the most dramatic ever season finale of The Bachelorette, but since the happy couple made their debut, many fans have suggested she settled for second best after Brooks Forester dramatically broke her heart on the semi final. In a brand new interview, Desiree says that she “absolutely did not settle,” and that Brooks leaving made her “love Chris more.” Read on for the juicy details.
Desiree Hartsock: Chris Siegfried Was NOT My Second Choice
Desiree, 27, accepted Chris’ romantic proposal in the Caribbean on the most explosive finale ever, where fans saw her pause his kneeling down so that she could explain to him that she really loved him all along.
“Brooks leaving gave me clarity,” Desiree told PEOPLE. “I had been falling in love with Chris.”
Speaking to the naysayers who doubt her love for Chris, Desiree said “I absolutely did not settle. Brooks’ leaving gave me the opportunity to love Chris more.” During the proposal, Desiree says she remembers thinking “I knew he was in my life for a reason and I had to pursue that.”
How romantic! Desiree and Chris are a match made in heaven, and she definitely made the right choice.
“Finding Chris was everything I’ve ever wanted,” Des said. “It’s real and it’s going to last.”
Chris — How He Feels About Desiree
Chris, 28, showed his maturity when he said that he does not have “any doubts” over Des’ feelings for him, or that she could still be in love with Brooks.
“I was fine with it really, I didn’t have any doubts.” Plus, Chris added that “Des is The One.”
It is so great that neither one of them is holding on to any thoughts about Brooks, and Brooks told HollywoodLife.com that he is “extremely happy” for them. Alls well that ends well!
Chris & Desiree’s Wedding Plans
Des added that she can imagine getting married next June, and Chris adds “We will write our own vows.”
“We would like to get married in the summer — next summer,” said Des said on Live! with Kelly & Michael on August 6, and she added that she isn’t sure if she wants to film their nuptials for ABC. “We want to keep it intimate.”
