Luke, a former New York Giants lineman, was taken into custody on Aug. 6, after his wife of 13 years, Jennifer Petitgout, told police that he pushed her out of their parked car, leaving her ‘bruised and battered.’ The fight reportedly started because he thought she was cheating on him.
Luke Petitgout, a once beloved New York Giants football star, is now in the midst of a nasty assault scandal. The 37-year-old retired athlete, is being investigated by police, after his wife Jennifer Petitgout, showed up to the police station around 5:30 a.m. on Aug 2, and claimed that he hit her over the head with her purse, pushed her out of their parked car and then drove off leaving her in the street.
Former NY Giants Star Luke Petitgout Accused Of Assaulting His Wife
The fight reportedly started in NYC’s swanky Meatpacking District, around 5:30 a.m. The police report claims that Luke and Jennifer got into a fight after he accused her of cheating on him. That’s when she claims he pushed her out of their parked car, causing her to scrape her arms, head and breasts.
Jennifer claims that Luke then hit her over the head with her purse and drove off. Jennifer then climbed into a taxi and drove to the 1st Precinct station and filed a report against him and then headed to New York Downtown Hospital to be examined.
At first the charges against Luke were felony assault, but at his arraignment on Aug. 6, they were dropped to second-degree aggravated misdemeanor.
“He absolutely denies all of the charges,” his attorney Dennis Ring said. “Mr. Petitgout never hurt a soul in his life off the football field. This case is going to be dismissed. He can go home tonight. His wife is fine.”
Jennifer Spends Weekend With Luke & Refuses To Comment On The Assault
Despite filing a report and going to the hospital, the couple reportedly spent the weekend after the fight together. When a reporter from the New York Daily News showed up to their massive estate in New Jersey, Jennifer reportedly said “Are you kidding me?” and slammed the door.
Luke played for the Giants for seven years and then went to play for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. But after an injury and being suspended for steroids in 2008, he was cut from the team and retired. Now he is a spokesperson for a human growth hormone treatment called EnergetixMD.
