The red carpet at The Costume Institute Benefit at The Metropolitan Museum was a slew of who’s who but Jessica Biel definitely stood out in the crowd. We chatted with her hairstylist and makeup artist for the event — we break down the look below!

The key to perfect makeup is a flawless base. Jessica uses G.M. Collin Aquamucine Cream with SPF 15 as a daily moisturizer, a recommendation by her dermatologist. It balances skin’s moisture, reduces fine lines and provides SPF protection.

Jessica’s Exact Makeup — The Inspiration

Celebrity makeup artist Kayleen McAdams shared the inspiration for the look:

“The look I created for Jessica Biel was influenced by Robert Mapplethorpe and Patti Smith. They always walked the perfect line between masculine and feminine and I wanted her makeup to have that same feel. As soon as I saw the amazing trousers she was wearing I knew I wanted to emphasize the androgynous aspect of the punk movement. Anthony Campell did an amazing job with her hair, and by pulling all the hair back it really showed off Jessica’s bone structure. I then focused on playing that up with even more obvious contouring on her cheeks, eyes, lips and brows," Kayleen tells HollywoodLife.com.

“Jessica has gorgeous skin so I wanted to use a base that would emphasize the luminosity and look as though she was wearing nothing,” Kayleen says. “The ck one 3-in-1 face makeup gives the perfect coverage, so I blended it all over the face with a beauty blender and used the Tarte Marajuca Creaseless Concealer in Light just under the eyes. I added a tiny bit of the ck one skin illuminator in cool along the cheekbones and down the bridge of her nose to keep the skin looking dewy. Using this highlighter made the contrast of the cheeks that much more obvious. I then used the ck one cream + powder bronzer duo in lightly golden to contour her cheekbones and blend along her chin and forehead. I went back over the cream with the bronzer powder to set the look and used a dusting of the ck one air light pressed powder in porcelain on the T-zone to keep the shine to a minimum.”

“To maintain the monochromatic look, I again used the bronzer and blended all over Jessica’s eyes. I used a darker matte shadow, Jouer powder eyeshadow in Chestnut, in her crease area to add dimension. I wanted the eye to look bare and only give the effect of shadows, so I kept the products matte and didn’t use any eyeliner. The key to this eye look was the mascara. Both Jessica and I love the look of soft mascara and it was key to giving her eyes that masculine edge. I chose the ck one color mascara in confess — it looks almost gray — and applied two coats on the top and bottom lashes. The shade really brought out Jessica’s green eyes. I started by patting Jessica’s lips with the ck one pure color lipstick in whatever with my finger, really pressing it in. I used a tiny bit of ck one lipgloss in tender to give the lips dimension and to keep them looking moist. Jessica then accessorized the look with a 'punk style' nose ring.”

Jessica’s Hairstyle — The Inspiration Behind The Slick Style

Celeb hairstylist Anthony Campbell shared the inspiration: ”The inspiration was something Jessica, myself and [designer] Giambatista Valli came up with. We wanted to do something that was graphic and a slight nod to punk but still chic. We wanted make it look like the sides were almost shaved and the rest of the hair pin straight — almost like a sheet of hair — and the top slicked.”

“I prepped the hair with Bumble and Bumble Prep Spray from roots to ends to add moisture. Next I used Oribe Thickening Spray from roots to ends to blow dry and give control and a little lift. Then I blow dried the hair straight witha Mason Pearson brush. Next I touched up the ends with a flatiron and spayed each section with Bumble and Bumble Does It All Spray. Next I slicked the sides back with Bumble and Bumble Does it All Spray, putting just the sides into a small ponytail at the back of the head. Next I used Bumble and Bumble Classic Hairspray to slick the top and finish the slicked sides. Lastly, I finished the ends of the hair with Oribe Gold Lust oil.”
