After 18 days of trial, the jury found Jodi guilty of first degree murder on May 8. Court will resume on May 9 for sentencing, and a legal expert EXCLUSIVELY tells HollywoodLife.com that Jodi is likely to escape the death penalty.
Jodi Arias was found guilty of the murder of her boyfriend, Travis Alexander, on May 8. After two and a half days of deliberations the jury reached a first degree guilty verdict on May 8, and she will be sentenced the following day. Raoul Felder, former federal prosecutor and author of How To Get Away With Murder says that he believes Jodi will avoid the death penalty because she has “built up a bond” with the jurors. Read on for all the details.
Jodi Arias: Death Penalty Unlikely
Jodi, 32, will be sentenced on May 9, and while many speculate that she will receive the death penalty, Mr Felder disagrees because he believes the jury will be more sympathetic.
It is an appropriate verdict because the evidence sustains the verdict. I don’t think they will give her the death penalty. They have seen her every day since Jan 2, day after day. They built up a bond, for months and months now, and they may have found her guilty [but they won't sentence her to death]. She has a semblence of a defense, a fiasco of a defense — she’s a women certain people connect with. They are not going to send her to death.
Mr Felder makes a valid point, as the jury handed her guilty sentence, but they may be more sympathetic with sending her to death row.
Guilty Verdict Reached At Jodi Arias Murder Trial
The jury deliberated the verdict for fifteen hours before making the unanimous decision that Jodi is guilty.
Jodi, 32, was found guilty of murder in the first degree of her ex boyfriend, who was found dead in his shower in Phoenix, AZ, in 2008. Jodi admitted to stabbing him 27 times, and shooting him in the head. His throat was also slit from ear-to-ear.
Jodi could face execution, unless the jury grants her life in prison. She could be eligible for parole after 25 years.
