The jury has reached a verdict. After two and a half days of discussion, Jodi Arias will either be convicted or acquitted of murdering her former boyfriend on May 8.
A verdict has been reached in Jodi Arias‘ murder trial. Jodi was put on trial for the murder of her boyfriend Travis Alexander after she was accused of stabbing and shooting him in 2008. After fifteen hours of deliberation, the jury have reached a verdict which will be read at 1:30pm PT.
Verdict Reached In Murder Trial
Jodi, 32, was accused of killing her ex boyfriend, who was found dead in his shower in Phoenix, AZ, in 2008. He had been shot, stabbed multiple times and had his throat slashed from ear to ear.
The jury were told they must reach a unanimous verdict by the Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Sherry Stephens. It will be read today, May 8, at 4:30pm.
Closing Arguments At Jodi Arias’ Trial
During the closing arguments, prosecutor Juan Martinez said that Jodi was a calculated killer, and he asked the jury to return a verdict of first degree murder.
Nothing indicates that this is anything less than a slaughter.
Jodi’s defense attorney Kirk Nurmi argued that Jodi was abused by Travis, and they had a relationship of “sex, lies, and dirty little secrets.”
He asked the jury to consider manslaughter as an alternate to murder: if she is “guilty of anything at all,” he said, “it is the crime of manslaughter.”
