The Duke of Cambridge wanted to be a totally normal father — and looks like that’s what he’s getting! It doesn’t get more normal than changing your babies diapers, and in a new interview, Will reveals he even changed the baby’s first! Can YOU believe it?
Prince William has always expressed that he wants to be a hands-on dad — and it doesn’t get more hands-on than changing your baby’s first diaper! In a candid new interview with CNN, Will opened up about fatherhood, revealing that though his first weeks with his newborn son Prince George have been “really emotional,” — he’s not off diaper duty!
Prince William’s Diaper Changing — New Dad Talks Royal Baby
“I am as independent as I want to be, same as Catherine and Harry,” Prince William explained on CNN. ”We’ve all grown up differently to other generations and I very much feel if that I can do it myself, I want to do it myself.”
Of course, there are times when Prince William just can’t do every little thing himself — as he calls it, “the system takes over,” but if there’s something he can do to help, he will.
That includes changing the royal diapers — or “nappies,” as the Brits call them!
“I did the first nappy, it’s a badge of honor,” Prince William joked in the interview. Looks like even the future king couldn’t get off the hook on that one! “I wasn’t allowed to get away with that. I had every midwife staring at me, saying: ‘You do it, you do it.’”
Prince William Always Thinking About His Son
The Prince isn’t just good for a diaper change here and there — he really takes the job seriously! At a charity polo event on August 3, Will told the crowd that his mind just wasn’t on the game!
I was in baby mode out there, thinking about nappies [diapers], I wasn't really in the zone. … I've got to pick some up on my way home.
